23 August 2006 19:57 Well, posting here from Emerald Isle, North Carolina. It is really awesome down here and we are having a lot of fun. By 9PM, I am dog tired, but I still want to do more. Right across the street is the beach, there is a pool here, volleyball court, basketball bucket, pool table, hot tub, and of course, wireless broadband access!
Just today, we have been to the beach a couple of times, the pool, hot tub, played basketball, a little football, badminton, and grubbed. It is not all fun and games, it is a really long trip down here, but well worth it!
17 August 2006 22:15 I finished the Shadowline of the Bimmer yesterday. It looks great. It is a drastic improvement over the chrome. Before and after shots available @ the Visual Edition.
15 August 2006 17:05 There are a few small things that I wish to accomplish before the summers end (or in the first few non hectic weeks of school) in regards to the BMW. Well, there is one major thing, that being the struts. Sometime in September, most likely later in the month, we will finally be purchasing some new struts all around for the bimmer, these ones are a bit aged. I plan on getting Bilstien touring shocks. They are 15% stiffer than the already exceptional BMW OEM equipment, so I expect a better handling ride with little trade off in comfort compared to sport shocks.
Other than that I will be shadowlining the trim around the windows on the BMW. This just means that instead chrome, they will be black, giving it a less "bling" look. Supposedly BMW started doing this by default during 1990 or 1991, however both this bimmer and the old beige mysteriously have this missing. I have seen other E30's with it, but they are coupes. Perhaps it is only in coupes that BMW did this.
The other thing is I wanted to change the fluid in the tranny. I want to use Redline MTL in it, and it is quite easy to do. However, finding the fluid is another story.
It was the same way with the shadowline effort; I had a hard time finding Wurth paint. I had to order it online, Wurth Satin Black Trim Paint. It seems I will have to do the same with the Redline lubricant. It seems that no local auto part stores carry these high quality equipment/accessories.
I am a bit sick of it, and I guess I cannot ask for any better, but it is just very maddening. All I could find were cheaper, less durable brands. argh!
01 August 2006 11:20 I went over to another Verizon store yesterday, I wanted to play with the 700p some more and get a feel for what it is like and how it loads pages and if there is a noticable difference in speed.
I also wanted to ascertain if something the VZW rep told us was true, that there was no way to turn off the data network, and thus required that the $50 data plan be placed on the plan. Well either he was lying or didnt know the product, its exactly like the 650, you can turn it on and off and has the same options as the 650, or the 600 for that matter. It just uses the newer network. Oh well. VZW's loss. If we would have gotten it, we would have not purchased the data plan, and would never use the internet. But now we will be switching to Sprint and getting it for much cheaper, and enjoying mobile internet's use again.
It was considerably faster than I remember on past devices, and it handled sites that I visit quite well. I was going to try streaming some music, but I decided to quit and get on with my day. I was in there for over half an hour playing with it.
Streaming music would fulfill a dream that some friends of mine had from the old FB days; streaming di.fm into the car. Once we get these 700p's, that will be an objective. |
